Tribute to master figure sculptor Sergey Zlobov (Part 1)

The community of historical miniatures laments the passing of Sergey Zlobov, a truly gifted and deeply respected master sculptor whose work inspired collectors, painters, and fellow artists around the world.

Born on July 13, 1967. He was a resident of Chelyabinsk, Russia. He passed away in August of 2026. His remarkably detailed 54mm, 75mm and 90mm historical figures, as well as his powerful and expressive North American Indian busts, reflected an extraordinary understanding of anatomy, character, costume, and movement. Each sculpture possessed a distinctive vitality, transforming a small figure into a compelling human story.

Sergey was also widely regarded as one of the finest sculptors of equestrian figures. His horses were sculpted with exceptional dynamism and realism, while rider and mount were united in a way that captured both the spirit and drama of the subject.

Throughout his career, Sergey contributed his talent to Authorsculpt, Seil Models, Legion Miniatures, and Fanart Models, leaving an enduring mark on the historical miniature world.

Additionally, he co-founded and manages Model Sculpt, an online forum and community platform. For many years, it has been an essential gathering place for international scale modellers, sculptors, and painters to exchange tutorials, historical research, and step-by-step masterclasses.

Although Sergey is no longer with us, his artistic legacy remains. His creations will continue to be studied, painted, admired, and treasured by generations to come and will live on in people's hearts! In remembrance of him!

Here are a few of his figure and bust sculptures:
