This a Samurai figure kit of Kusunoki Masashige. Kusunoki Masashige
(楠木正成), 1294 - July 4, 1336) was
a 14th century samurai who fought for Emperor Go-Daigo in his attempt to wrest
rulership of Japan away from the Kamakura shogunate and is remembered as the
ideal of samurai loyalty. His origin has not been validated and it was merely
six years between the start of his military campaign in 1331 and his demise in
1336. He received the highest decoration from the Meiji government of Japan in 1880.
Portrait of Kusunoki Masashige and his family crest
The Nanbokucho period (Nanboku-cho jidai, “South and North
courts period” or the Northern and Southern Courts period), spans from 1336 to
1392, which was a period that occurred during the formative years of the
Muromachi bakufu of Japan’s history. During this period, there was a Northern Imperial Court,
established by Ashikaga Takauji in Kyoto,
and a Southern Imperial Court, established by Emperor Go-Daigo in Yoshino.
The kit consists of 29 white metal parts. The quality of the
white metal and superb casting which reminds me of those produced by Poste
Miltaire. The kit comes with two choices of left hand. One holding a sword
scabbard and the other a trophy head.
Here are the casting parts.
